Dating Safety Tips

Please be diligent when interacting with individuals that you meet online. Most Supersocial.com members are interested in meeting singles, dating, and establishing meaningful relationships. However, there are a few folks out who are not using the site for dating purposes. So we ask that you always exercise some level of caution when getting to know someone virtually for the first time.

Avoid and report individuals that:

  1. Provide you with their email address or their other personal information in their first communication to you. We encourage the exchange of meaningful information over the course of several messages. However, internet scammers have a tendency to want to exchange sensitive or personal information almost immediately with someone they don't even know.

  2. Ask you for money. This point seems obvious but it needs to be said, stay away from anyone asking you for money. If they ask you for any personal financial related information, do not share it with them. Regardless of their intentions, you did not come to the site to give or lend money to anyone. You came to meet and date other singles. Report anyone asking for money or anything financial in nature.

  3. Ask you for any goods like food, plane tickets, travel or work visas, clothing, or electronics. Again, you came here to meet singles not ship items via a postal service. You're not a charity; you're a single person looking to date.

  4. Ask you to perform a service of any kind. It's not your role to perform errands. Do not wire money, do not go to the bank on their behalf, do not perform any research for them, do not act as a courier, and do not act as a transportation service. You didn't come to this site looking for a job; you came to connect with other singles.

  5. Claim to be from one area, possibly local to you, and then as it turns out they are from another city, state, or even another country.

  6. Ask you for your personal information. Meaning they ask you for your home address, phone numbers, personal or work email addresses, etc. You are not required to share any such information with anyone until you feel comfortable in doing so. Therefore, if you suspect that they are trying to pressure you into doing so, report them immediately.

  7. Send you multiple unsolicited messages. Internet scammers have a tendency of sending frequent harassing messages, either once they've established some baseline communication with you, or even if they've never heard from you. You are not required to respond to anyone you suspect is a scammer, or anyone you're simply not interested in.
